CLEANSING: A FUNDAMENTAL STEP
Convincing a teenager to cleanse their face with specific products and not just with water is important for the health of their skin.
Water is essential for cleansing your face but alone it is not enough, especially during this phase of change where the skin is subject to excess sebum and impurities.
These residues, makeup, sunscreen are oil-based, water, being a polar substance, cannot dissolve and remove these oily elements that can remain on the skin increasing the risk of infections and irritation.
Choosing a gentle yet effective cleanser is essential both to remove sebum, impurities, makeup residue and to remove bacteria, dust and all those pollutants to which the face is exposed on a daily basis.
Properly cleansed skin:
- promotes a brighter appearance and prevents clogged pores;
- better absorbs products that are applied subsequently, such as creams, serums or specific treatments. If the skin is dirty or the pores are clogged, these products cannot penetrate easily and are less effective;
- it is more resistant and less prone to developing problems such as irritation, redness, infections, acne.
WHAT CHARACTERISTICS SHOULD A GOOD DETERGENT HAVE?
A facial cleanser should have specific features to meet the needs of young skin, which is often sensitive, oilier and prone to acne.
Gentle and non-irritating
It is important to choose a cleanser that does not contain harsh or irritating ingredients, such as strong sulfates (e.g., sodium lauryl sulfate) to avoid causing irritation or dryness.
Non-comedogenic
This means that the product does not clog pores, thereby preventing the formation of blackheads and pimples.
With purifying active ingredients
Using a cleanser that contains ingredients that not only cleanse, but also moisturize and soothe the skin is essential. For example, IM STRONG cleanser contains yellow clay to help regulate the production of sebum, aloe and calendula to calm and sea moss algea as antibacterial.
Moisturizing
A formula that cleanses while maintaining the skin's natural hydration is ideal to avoid over-drying it.
PH balanced
A cleanser with a balanced pH (around 5.5) is preferable because it respects the skin's natural barrier, keeping it healthy and less prone to irritation or infections.
Free from artificial fragrances and colorants
Fragrances and dyes can be irritating, especially to young, sensitive skin. A cleanser free of these substances is generally a safer choice.
Maintaining clean, well-groomed skin during adolescence can have long-term benefits, helping to maintain healthier, less problem-prone skin in adulthood.
Proper cleansing will help keep your skin clean, preserve its protective function, establish a good routine that will last over time and improve your self-perception, contributing to greater emotional well-being.
