TAMARIND

It is a large evergreen tree, native of Africa, but favoring the tropical climate it is very widespread in Asia and Latin America. It belongs to the Papilionaceae family, also called Leguminosae. The name Tamarind comes from the Arabic Tamar Indi, which means the date of India.
Its large pods, slightly curved and about 10 centimetres long, contain a sweet and sour fleshy pulp widely used in Indian, African and Asian cuisine and also in cosmetics thanks to its numerous benefits.
Tamarind extracts contain compounds with anti-inflammatory effects , which can reduce the redness and swelling associated with pimples and help relieve irritation in acne-prone skin .
It also contains natural alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA) , such as tartaric acid and malic acid, which promote gentle exfoliation of the skin. This helps remove dead skin cells, unclog clogged pores, and prevent the formation of blackheads and blemishes.
The presence of polysaccharides, such as mucilage, gives tamarind moisturizing and soothing properties . This is ideal for improving the skin barrier: counteracting the dryness often associated with anti-acne treatments and promoting skin recovery without irritating it.
In addition to being rich in vitamin C, it contains vitamins A, B1, B3, E, K and many minerals such as magnesium, potassium and iron ideal for healthy skin!
If your skin often has breakouts and inflammation, tamarind is definitely one of those functional ingredients that you should include in your skin routine.
